Thus gasoline without any additives would be expected to <br /> hove an overall solubility which was considerably less than the sum of the <br /> individual solubi:ities. Methyl tertiary butyl ether MTBE, methanol and <br /> ethanol are odder to gasoline to improve the octane rating and/or to improve <br /> the tolerance for noisture.
