1 KL E/NFEL DER
Br,ght People.Fight Solutions.
2) Sample collection should be facilitated by the removal of the structure in
order to allow full access and a comprehensive field assessment.
3) The full characterization and extent of the contamination is an iterative
process. Once the extent of the contamination is assessed, a work plan and
cost estimate for the remediation of the affected soil and/or groundwater
can be prepared to safely handle the affected soils/groundwater.
The analytical data does not suggest a significant problem by the former AST, and
asphalt was noted in the former area. However, it should be noted the shallow soil
sampling (less than 1 foot in depth) may not be adequate to characterize the
subsurface soils adequately, especially considering the potential characterization
problems of sandy soil discussed within this report. Kleinfelder recommends additional
soil sampling if the City desires to limit its risk to a greater extent than is indicated in this
report.
LIMITATIONS
Kleinfelder offers various levels of investigative and engineering services to suit the
varying needs of different clients. Although risk can never be eliminated, more detailed
and extensive investigations yield more information, which may help understand and
manage the level of risk. Since detailed investigation and analysis involves greater
expense, our clients participate in determining levels of service, which provide adequate
information for their purposes at acceptable levels of risk. Acceptance of this report will
indicate that you have reviewed its content and determined that it does not need or
want a greater level of service than will be provided. Any exceptions should be noted
and may result in an adjusted scope of services.
Regulations and professional standards applicable to Kleinfelder's services are
continually evolving. Techniques are, by necessity, often new and relatively untried.
Different professionals may reasonably adopt different approaches to similar problems.
Therefore, no warranty or guarantee, expressed or implied, will be included in
Kleinfelder's scope of service.
112884.1/ST010R366R Page 9 of 10 October 1, 2010
Copyright 2010 Kleinfelder Revision 1, dated November 22,2010
