(KLE NFEL DER
1,,,hl P-pleRight 1,1o
(PID) was conducted in the field which measures ionizable compounds in air in parts
per million by volume (ppmv). Soils near groundwater had a PID reading of 162 ppmv;
however, other soil samples, even those collected near samples with notable TPH-MO
concentrations, did not have positive PID readings. A single grab groundwater sample
was collected from B-1. Additional soil samples were collected from 3 borings (B-2, 13-
3, and B-4) at depths of 1/2, 5, and 10 feet bgs at various locations within the building.
Groundwater was not detected in these boreholes. The borings were advanced
following the coring of the wooden plank floor using a limited access Geoprobe drill rig.
The sample locations are shown on Plate 1 .
A total of 12 soil samples and one groundwater sample were collected and chemically
analyzed. The samples were submitted under chain-of-custody control to a laboratory
approved by the State of California Department of Health Services for the following
requested analyses:
• TPH-D and TPH-MO by EPA Method 8015M
• BTEX
• Fuel oxygenates: MtBE, TAME, ETBE, DIPE, TBA by EPA Method 8260B
• Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) (groundwater only) by EPA Method
8260B
Note: Samples were not analyzed for methanol and ethanol due to the non-detectable
concentration of other fuel oxygenates in accordance with discussions with City of Manteca
personal involved with the project. Based on our discussions with the City of Manteca, we
recommended and were approved to analyze the groundwater sample for VOCs.
The boreholes were closed with neat cement made level with the existing ground
surface and inspected by an EHD representative. The laboratory results for soil
samples collected are shown on the following Table 1. The laboratory reports are
shown in Attachment A.
112884.1/ST010R366R Page 4 of 10 October 1, 2010
Copyright 2010 Kleinfelder Revision 1,dated November 22,2010
