' We placed the extracted groundwater into Department of Transportation-approved, 17-H, 55-gallon
' drums that were temporarily stored onsite pending disposal. On February 15, 2009, March 4, 2009,
March 19, 2009, and April 1, 2009, KR Environmental either picked up or used a vacuum truck to
purge the 55-gallon drums and transported the purge water to their disposal facility located in
' Sacramento, California.
' 2.5 Summary of OS Pilot Testing Results
The effectiveness of the OS was evaluated by measuring the DO and contaminant concentrations in
select monitoring wells with the expected response being increases in the DO and decreases in the
contaminant concentrations with time.
2.5.1 Source Area Well Results
The baseline, 30-day, 60-day and 90-day TPHg, benzene, naphthalene and DO results for the source
area wells are summarized below.
Well No. Date TPHg Benzene Naphthalene DO
(µg/1) WWI)
MW-1 11/10/08 10,000 740 220 0.18
(source area well) 3/9/09 9,600 580 170 0.17
Screened from 50'-75' 4/15/09 8,500 690 180 0.29
5/11/09 12,000 750 160 0.27
' MW-3 11/10/08 4,800 1 0.68 6.9 0.26
source area well 3/9/09 1,200 9.2 2.6 0.13
' Screened from 50'-75' 4/15/09 1,900 2.8 2.9 0.16
5/11/09 1,700 1.8 3.2 0.15
' GWX-1 11/10/08 19,000 7,900 340 0.29
source area well) 3/9/09 9,000 1,200 120 0.11
Screened from 24'-62' 4/15/09 2,800 300 49 0.16
5/11/09 4,300 1 240 58 0.20
ppm=parts per million
' Well GWX-1 showed the greatest decreases in contaminant concentrations of the three source area
wells. The 90-day sampling results for GWX-1 reported TPHg, BTEX and naphthalene concentrations
' at least one order of magnitude less than their respective baseline concentrations. The results for wells
MW-1 and MW-3 were less conclusive. While MW-3 showed decreased TPHg and naphthalene
' concentrations, the BTEX concentrations increased slightly at the 30-day sampling event. The
subsequent 60-day and 90-day sampling of MW-3 showed that while BTEX concentrations remained
above baseline levels, the overall trend for BTEX is decreasing following the 30-day results. With the
Project No.S9183-06-02 -6- July 2,2009
