inches);(3)The ends of the selected sample were quickly wrapped with Teflon sheets, capped with
plastic end caps;and(4)The sealed soil sample was labeled and immediately placed in cold storage
for transport to the analytical laboratory under formal chain-of-custody. All coring and sampling
' equipment was thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated between each sample collection by triple
rinsing first with water, then with dilute tri-sodium phosphate solution, and finally with distilled
water.
' Following completion of soil sampling activities, 3/4 inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC well casing
was placed in four of the borings, I13-1, I13-2, I13-5, and Ib-6, and grab groundwater samples were
collected from these four borings using a clean small-diameter stainless steel bailer. Each grab
groundwater sample was collected as follows: (1)Laboratory-supplied containers were completely
filled directly from the bailer with a minimum of agitation;(2)After making sure that no air bubbles
' are present, each container was then tightly sealed with a Teflon-lined septum; and (3) Each
container was labeled and placed in cold storage for transport to the analytical laboratory under
formal chain-of-custody. All sampling equipment was thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated
' between each sample collection by triple rinsing as described above.
2.4 Laboratory Analysis of Soil and Water Samples
A total of 13 soil samples and four grab groundwater samples were analyzed for the following
' parameters:
USEPA 8015M Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel/Motor Oil (TPH-D/MO)
USEPA 8015M Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G)
In addition,eight soil samples(IB-1.2,I13-2.2,I13-3.2,I13-4.2,I13-5.2,IB-6.2,IB-7.2 and IB-8.2)were
analyzed for the following parameters:
USEPA 8010 by 8260B Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs, includes 28
' constituents)
In addition, four grab groundwater samples(IB-1 W,IB-2W,IB-5W and IB-6W)were analyzed the
1 following parameters:
USEPA 8260B Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs, includes 59 constituents)
' All analyses was conducted by Acculab,Inc. a California-certified analytical laboratory, with two-
week turnaround on results.
' 3.0 RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION
3.1 General Subsurface Conditions
Native soils encountered in borings IB-1 through IB-8 were generally similar, consisting primarily
of brown silty sands down to total depth. Brown clayey silt was encountered in 1134 below ten feet
in depth. A thin layer of sandstone was encountered in all the borings at approximately four feet
' in depth. No hydrocarbon odors were noted in any of the soil samples. Groundwater was
encountered at approximately nine feet in depth in all of the eight borings.
GRIBIAssociates Page3 REPORT OF SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION
157M SOUTH MCKINLEY AVENUE/GA 110-05-01
