PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
Significant groundwater contamination was detected in samples collected on November 17, 1994
from all three on site monitoring wells. As PHS/EHD indicated in prior correspondence
additional soil and groundwater investigation will be required. The groundwater gradient
reportedly has shifted from the west in August 1994 to the north in November 1994. PHS/EHD
suggests that monthly groundwater elevation measurements be collected for first quarter 1995
to confirm the gradient. Regardless of the gradient direction, additional monitoring wells and
soil borings to the north, west, south and east of the site will be necessary to define the extent
of soil and groundwater contamination.
Please submit a work plan by February 15, 1994, to continue the on and off site soil and
groundwater investigation.
If you have any questions or wish to schedule a site inspection, please contact Mary Meays, at
(209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M.
