ARCADIS GERAGHTY&MILLER <br /> Average annual rainfall in Stockton is 14 inches, more than 80% of which falls between <br />' November and March Average monthly rainfall from May to September is less than 0 5 <br /> inches Eleven of the last 14 years (1984-1997) have been drier than the annual average of 14 <br />' inches with a particularly dry 3 year period from 1988 through 1990 where annual rainfall was <br /> less than 10 inches <br /> 3.2 SITE HYDROLOGIC SETTING <br /> The Site is located approximately 2,000 feet east ofMcLeod Lake,which is a terminus <br />' of the Stockton Deep Water Channel and is subject to periodic fluctuations in water elevation <br /> due to tidal influences <br /> 1 <br /> In a report entitled Limited Phase I Envirofimental Site Avwssment, GeoStrategies <br /> (Report No 4827 04-1 dated April 28, 1995)reviewed Sanborn maps of the Site and vicinity <br />' from 1895, 1917, 1950, and 1972 These maps identified property boundaries, past uses of <br /> properties in the vicinity and certain cultural features The 1917 maps of the Site vicinity show <br /> the existence of a feature known as Miner Channel(1895) or Miner Slough(1917)located <br /> approximately 2,500 feet south of the Site Sometime pnor to creation of the 1950 Sanborn <br /> map, the channel was filled in and businesses now occupy the land of the former channel <br /> course <br /> 3.3 SITE SOIL CONDITIONS <br /> Previous investigations indicate that the Site is underlain by prirnanly fine-gramed <br />' deposits consisting of nnterlayered clays and silts to an approximate depth of 50 feet Silts and <br /> silty sands occur to a depth of approxunately 25 feet Occasional mterlayered silty sands (up to <br />' 50 feet thick)were reported to the total depth investigated <br />' 10 <br />
