Following completion of the piezometer installation activities the location of the
P P =
nested piezometer will be surveyed by a California-certified land surveyor Northing
and easting information, along with ground surface elevation of both piezometers will be
collected The piezometers will be developed at a minunum of 72 hours following
completion of piezometer construction A bailer will be used to remove the water and
suspended sediments from the well casing During the development, purged
groundwater will be monitored for turbidity, pH, conductivity, and temperature Purging
will continue until at least 6-10 casing volumes in excess of any water added during
drilling activities have been removed, and monitored parameters have stabilized Water
level measurements will be collected from all wells including the piezometers a
minimum of 72 hours after piezometer development activities are completed
' A-6 Laboratory Analyses
All water samples selected for analysis will be transported in a cooler containing ice, under
proper chain-of-custody protocol, to a California-certified mobile and fixed-base
laboratory Selected water samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHg) using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) modified Method 8015
' and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), and methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE) using EPA Method 8020 If MTBE is detected, the sample with the highest
MTBE concentration will be reanalyzed for MTBE only at a fixed-site laboratory using
EPA method 8260A
Quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) samples will be collected and
submitted to a separate State-certified fixed laboratory as follows
• At two depths, one shallow and one deep, duplicates will be collected,
• Each cooler containing groundwater samples will contain a trip blank and
' temperature blank, and
• One equipment rinseate blank for each day of field work will be collected
' A.7 Management of Investigation benved Waste Material
' Concrete, asphalt and soil cuttings removed during drilling activities and liquid
generated during decontamination of the sampling equipment and development of the
piezometers will be contamenzed in 55-gallon drums and stored on site pending
' characterization for off-site disposal at an appropriate facility At a minimum, each
drum will be labeled with the site address,bormg/piezometer number, type material, date
of accumulation and depth interval, if applicable When possible, suspected
nonimpacted material will be containerized separate from known impacted material
1
ARCADIS GERAGHTY&MILLER
