Project No. 034-17016
Site-Specific Health& Safety Plan
Page No. 7
metallic anomalies characteristic of underground storage tanks. Ifa UST is identified, it should be removed
in accordance with State and local guidelines.
Potential Housekeeping Issues
During Krazan's site reconnaissance, seven 300-gallon plastic totes containing diesel exhaust fluid(DEF)
were observed on paved ground adjacent to the east of the truck/trailer wash bay building. The plastic totes
were not equipped with secondary spill containment, the absence of which could result in an impact to the
subject site in the event of an unauthorized release of the containers' contents. Although DEF is not
considered to be an extremely hazardous material, it is an irritant which is classified as hazardous by the
OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Consequently,DEF may be considered to be a hazardous material
requiring spill containment by the San Joaquin County Certified Unified Program Agency(CUPA). Given
the amount of DEF observed on the subject site at the time of the site reconnaissance,Krazan recommends
that the CUPA be contacted to determine whether or not secondary containment is required for the DEF
storage area.
Client-Directed Scope
Based upon the above-referenced RECs and PAOCs,the following areas of concern(AOCs)were developed:
1. On-Site Fueling System/USTs/Dispensers
2. Occidental Chemical Corporation/Oxychem On-site Groundwater Monitoring Wells
3. Adjacent J. R. Simplot Groundwater Remediation Case
4.
