Install four monitoring wells at the location of the former underground storage tank(UST)to determine <br /> the direction of groundwater flow and to delineate the lateral extent of methyl tertiary butyl ether <br /> (MtBE)contamination. <br /> 2. Install a soil boring and collect a grab-groundwater sample to determine the extent of MtBE north of <br /> the former UST location. <br /> 3. Achieve the required two-inch radius between the borehole and the well casing for placement of the <br /> annular seal. The proposed method of using a hand auger for the first five feet to attain the required <br /> radius is approved. <br /> COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS: <br /> 1. All subsurface borings within San Joaquin County require permits. Obtain the necessary drilling <br /> permits from San Joaquin County prior to commencing drilling operations. <br /> 2. Install at least one boring to a depth of 35,feet using continuous core sampling methods,as discussed in <br /> the conference call between ESA,the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board,and <br /> PHS/EHD. <br /> 3. Begin work within 45 days of workplan approval date. <br /> 4. This site has been reassigned to Sam Savig,EHS,San Joaquin County.
