I would
suggest you move well MW-2 west about 30 or 35 feet. I know that the presumed direction of
groundwater flow is north/northeast but we don't really know that for a fact. Recall that one of the main j
reasons the Board has asked for additional monitoring wells is to establish the direction of groundwater
flow. With MW-2 a few more feet to the west, you'll be able to solve for groundwater flow direction and
gradient using MW-2, MW-1,and MW-4-
The second suggestion is to move MW-3 just a bit north, out of the excavation. Since you presumably
removed the contaminated soil in the excavated soil, we would be more interested in the groundwater
directly north of the former location. I suggest you place the well in the vicinity of TP-4, in native soil.
I will be out on vacation July 30 through August 3. If you have any questions and you can't contact me
today(Friday),just leave a message on my voice mail at(209)468-3436 (which is a different number
on our fax cover sheet you sent to me). Also, please note that the fax number for my
from the one
Y
floor is(209)468-3433. If you use that number instead of the general one, faxes will reach me faster.
Dot Lofstrom
i
