Message Page 1 of 2
NW
Margaret Lagorio [EH]
From: Art Deicke [adeicke@advgeoenv.com]
Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2007 10:16 AM
To: Margaret Lagorio [EH]
Cc: Harlin Knoll [EH]; 'Sob Marty'; 'Bill Little'
Subject: RE: SHOCKEY TRUCKING Site in Ripon
Ms. Lagorio,
This is a status report on the Additional Site Assessment Work Plan Addendum for Shockey
Trucking which is due to EHD on 7-6-2007.
- EHD has recommended a shallow ground water monitoring well east of the site in the area of the
AGE-proposed soil boring B-22. This area is in the CALTRANS right of way. Initial discussions (I
visited the District 10 office prior to submitting the work plan) with CALTRANS indicate a boring
encroachment permit will be relatively easy to obtain, possibly within 1 to 2 days, however; a
monitoring well encroachment permit may take I to 2 months and may not be approved. AGE applied
for a performance bond for the monitoring well in CALTRANS ROW as the first step in attaining an
encroachment permit. The performance bond is in process.
- EHD has recommended a shallow ground water monitoring well northwest of well MW-1, between
AGE-proposed borings B-20 and B-21. This area belongs to MGR LLC and is currently a large
undeveloped vacant lot. Future use is undetermined at this time. H &W Construction, business operator
at adjacent site and a.k.a. MGR LLC was agreeable to advancing borings, but hesitant to install
monitoring wells. We will need to meet with MGR LLC again and discuss a monitoring well
installation. MGR LLC has refused access for a ground water monitoring well. They will allow soil
borings, but not monitoring wells. EHD requested a written response from MGR.LLC which was
provided to EHD on 07 June 2007. As of 06 July 2007, EHD continues to work on the issue of access at
MGR LLC.
- AGE proposed wells MW-6, MW-7, MW-8 and MW-9 are located in City of Ripon right of way and
will require encroachment permits. I have discussed these well locations with the City of Ripon
Engineering department and was given tenative approval, however; encroachment permits require
processing time. AGE has not applied for the City of Ripon encroachment permits
yet pending the determination.of the scope (well or boring) on the MGR LLC property.
- Additionally, bids from well drilling companies have not been requested due to the pending and now
received EHD comment letter. Once encroachment permitting (City of Ripon and CALTRANS) and
access agreement (MGR LLC) have been obtained, drill bids will be requested. Drill bids are
pending determination of scope of the work (well or borings) on the MGR LLC property is
determined.
Best Regards,
Arthur Deicke
Project Scientist
Cell: (831)402-5860
adcicke_t{act_v_ eg oenv.conl
7/5/2007
