15 September 2000
°--
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0185
2.2. COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Ground water samples were collected from each well using new disposable plastic bailers. Each water
sample was then transferred into one 1-liter amber bottle and three 40-m1 volatile organic analysis
_ (VOA)vials containing 0.5 ml 18%HCI as a sample preservative."I'he samples were then labeled and
placed in a chilled container for transport under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc.
(MAI), a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory. Each
_ sample was analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (`I'PH-g and TPII-d) in
— accordance with EPA methods 8015-modified for gasoline and diesel fuel, respectively.
• Purgeablc aromatic compounds(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylene: BTE&X)
with methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA method 8020.
3.0. FINDINGS
I. GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
During. the .lune 2000 sampling event, the depth to ground water at the site ranged from 18.10 to
_ 18.50 feet bsg. The relative ground water elevation at the site ranged Isom 41.41 to 41.63 feet. The
ground water flow direction determined during this monitoring event is toward the southeast with
a hydraulic gradient of 0.001 feet/feet. The relative ground water elevations at the site are contoured
on Figure 3.
3.2. GROUND WA'T'ER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
TPH-d was detected in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1,MW-2,MW-3
and MW-4 at concentrations of 8,800 micrograms per liter (µg,11), 2.800 µg/l, 82 µg/l. and 4,800
µg/l,respectively. TPH-g was detected only in ground water sample M W-I ata concentration of 180
µg/l.
BTE&X and MTBE were not detected in any of the ground water samples.
Current and previous analytical results are summarised in Table 2. The laboratory report (MAI
Laboratory I.D. Nos. 40585 and 40588), quality control and quality assurance data and chain-of-
custody form are included in Appendix B.
Advanced GeoEn%ironmental,]nc.
