i
r30 December 2005
AGE-NC Project No 00-0764
volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid solution as a sample
preservative, and into one 1-liter amber bottle without preservative
The samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container, and transported under chain of
custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory located in Paramount, California Each sample was
' analyzed for
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA method 8015M, and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), the fuel additives di-isopropyl
ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-
amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), methanol, and ethanol, lead
scavengers 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA)and 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB),and trichloroethene
(TCE), tetrachloroethene (PCE), and naphthalene in accordance with EPA Method 8260B
. 3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected from
' shallow-screened wells MW-1 through MW-4 on 26 August 2005,the contaminant impact to ground
water was quantified from the ground water laboratory data
3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
Depths to ground water ranged from 30 47 feet to 31 79 feet below the tops of the well casings
Ground water was within the screened intervals of wells MW-1 through MW-4, indicating that the
wells should yield samples fully representative of shallow ground water conditions, well MW-5 was
screened at approximately 32 feet below the water table and should yield water samples
representative of deeper ground water conditions
The elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the ground water depth
from the surveyed casing elevation Ground water elevations in the shallow wells ranged from
19 24 feet (MW-1) to 19 39 feet (MW-4) below mean sea level (MSL), the elevation of deeper
screened well MW-5 was 19 84 feet below MSL The ground water elevation data is summarized
in Table 1
Ground water flow direction of first encountered ground water,in the area of the former USTs,was
•
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
