i <br /> j Historical Background <br /> CHET'S AUTOMOTIVE <br /> 545 East Miner Avenue, Stockton, California <br /> ' SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> ' Chet's Auto is located in a mixed commercial and industrial area of Stockton, California It is <br /> bounded on the south by Miner Avenue, with residential property to the west and north of the site <br /> and commercial property to the northeast A single stricture occupies the northern portion of the site <br /> SITE HYDROGEOLOGIC CONDITIONS <br /> The closest surface water feature to the site is McLeod Lake,located approximately 2,100 feet west <br /> ' of the site Based upon previous quarterly monitoring events conducted at the site,ground water flow <br /> direction is toward the northeast and occurs at depths between approximately 30 feet and 35 feet <br /> below surface grade (bsg) <br /> REGIONAL GEOLOGIC CONDITIONS <br /> • The site is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of Califorrua, a large, elongate, <br /> northwest-tending, asymmetric structural trough The Great Valley Province has been filled with <br /> thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent, creating a nearly flat-lying <br /> alluvial plain which extends from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains <br /> in the north The western and eastern boundaries of this province are comprised of the California <br /> ' Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively Rocks composing the basement complex of the <br /> province have not been completely defined but are believed to be of metamorphic and igneous <br /> origins The Great Valley Province has been subdivided into two mayor divisions identified as the <br /> rSacramento and San Joaquin Valleys <br /> The Modesto, Riverbank, and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the <br /> ' principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground <br /> Water Basin(Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River <br /> UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br /> Three gasoline underground storage tanks(USTs),used to collect and recycle waste oil,operated at <br /> the site until the late 1970s A UST excavation and removal was attempted on 16 August 2000,but <br /> the UST failed dunng the removal and released approximately 120 gallons of waste oil <br /> iThe UST pit was over-excavated to mitigate an unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> ' from the UST excavation The soil was excavated, using a backhoe or an excavator, to depths <br /> I <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
