Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report <br /> CHET'S AUTOMOTIVE <br /> ' 545 East Miner Avenue, Stockton, California <br /> I.O. INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of the Estate of Chester Farris (property/tank owner),Advanced GeoEnvironmental, <br /> Inc (AGE)has prepared the enclosed assessment report for an unauthorized release of petroleum- <br /> hydrocarbons from underground storage tanks formally located at 545 East Miner Avenue,Stockton, <br /> California (the site) The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 and a plan of the site is <br /> illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> The scope of work included the advancement of four soil probe borings in the area of the former <br /> steel-underground storage tanks (USTs) at the site, collection and analysis of soil samples for fuel <br /> components, field work was preformed as described in the AGE-prepared, Preliminary Site <br /> Assessment Work Plan dated 13 December 2000 as approved by the San Joaquin Country Public <br /> tHealth Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD)by letter dated 02 January 2001 <br /> ' This report has been prepared in accordance with Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for investigations of UST sites <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> 1 The site is bounded on the south by Miner Avenue Residential property hes west and north of the <br /> site,commercial property lies northeast of the site A single structure occupies the southern portion <br /> of the site <br /> 21 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK HISTORY AND REMOVAL <br /> ThreeP <br /> asoline USTs operated on the site until the late 1970's These USTs were then used to collect <br /> g <br /> and recycle/transport waste oil from the public A UST excavation and removal was attempted on <br /> 16 August 2000 The UST failed during the removal and waste oil was released,approximately 120 <br /> gallons of waste fluids were discharged <br /> On 16 August 2000, two composlted soil samples were collected from the soil stockpiled on site <br /> These soil samples represented the overburden soil from the initial UST excavation Soil was <br /> stockpiled on the eastern edge of the site Approximately 40 cubic yards of soil were loaded and <br /> transported to Forward Inc Landfill under manifest for proper disposal on 25 August 2000 <br /> ' The USTs and associated piping were removed from the site on 25 August 2000 A total of <br /> approximately 20 cubic yards of soil was excavated during removal of the USTs Following removal <br /> of the USTs, the soil was placed into a steel container pending proper disposal <br /> ' Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
