AGE-NC Project No 00-0764 <br /> ' Page 5 of 8 <br /> Selected soil samples were analyzed for <br /> 1 • TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, <br /> • BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8020 and, <br /> • Volatile organic compounds and TBA,DIPE,MTBE,ETBE and TAME in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 8260 <br /> 4.0. FINDINGS <br /> Soil observed in B1 was found to contain petroleum hydrocarbons at depths of 10 feet to 30 feet bsg, <br /> with lesser concentrations encountered at 20 feet and 30 feet bsg Ground water was found to be <br /> locally impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> 41 STRATIGRAPHY AND <br /> DEPTH TO GROUND WATER <br /> Silty sand was generally encountered to a depth approximately of 40 feet to 45 feet bsg Gray or tan <br /> silt and clayey silty, apparently depending on hydrocarbon impact, was present at depths between <br /> 10 and 60 feet bsg, were sampled Sandy silt was encountered at depths of 10, 20 and 30 to 40 feet <br /> bsg Ground water was encountered at approximately 30 feet bsg during soil sampling Soil boring <br /> logs are depicted in Appendix A A stratigraphic cross section is depicted in Figure 6 <br /> 42 HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL <br /> A total of thirty-six soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g,TPH-d,BTEX aid MTBE Only twenty <br /> soil samples were analyzed for the suite of five fuel additives by EPA Method 8260 Modified <br /> 1 TPH-g was detected in four of sixteen soil samples analyzed TPH-g was detected at <br /> concentrations as great as 3,100 milligram pre kilogram(mg/kg)in soil sample BI-1 0' TPH- <br /> g was detected in soil samples at 20 feet and 25 feet bsg collected from the former UST area <br /> • TPH-g was not detected in soil samples collected outside of the former UST excavation <br /> ' TPH-d was detected in soil samples collected from boring B1 TPH-d was detected in soil <br /> at 10 feet bsg at a concentration 3,100 mg/kg(B 1-10') TPH-d was detected in soil samples <br /> at 20 feet bsg at 290 mg/kg TPH-d was not detected at or below 30 feet bsg <br /> ' BTEX compounds were detected in four of the sixteen soil samples analyzed The greatest <br /> concentrations of BTEX compounds detected were in soil samples collected near the former <br /> ' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
