18 June 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0432'
' Page 2 of 6
' Prior to initiation of the test, the depth-to-ground water was measured in the extraction well EW.-1,
and in monitoring wells, using a Solinst water level meter. Well EW-1 is screened from 15 to 30 feet
below surface grade (bsg). The other wells are screened from approxiinately 10 to 30 feet bsg.
' The pump test utilized 7/s-inch diameter, model 3001 Solinst Levelogger pressure transducers that
were deployed in wells EW-1, MM-1, MW-3 and MW-5. The height of the water column was
measured by the datalogger at one-minute time intervals. Each pressure transducer was pre-
programed prior to the pumping test to log water levels at one-minute intervals. Copies of pressure
transducer water level data logged from well and filed sheets are in Appendix A. Semi-logarithmic
plots of draw-down versus time for MW-1, MW-3, MW-5 and EW-1 are in Appendix B.
During the constant rate pumping test the following maximum water drawdown was observed:
• The maximum ground water drawn-down in extraction well EW-1 was observed to be
approximately 6.5 feet after 30 minutes of pumping, then drawdown stabilized at
' approximately 5.7 feet after 420 minutes of pumping;
• Draw-down was observed in well MW-1 (located 5 feet toward the northwest)at 0.7 feet
• after 720 minutes of pumping,
• Draw-down was observed in well MW-3 (located 30 feet toward the northeast) at 0.22 feet
after 720 minutes;
• Draw-down was observed in well MW-5 (located 60 feet toward the northeast) at
approximately 0.13 feet after 720 minutes of pumping;
' Drawdown was observed in well MW-2 (located 75 feet toward the. northwest) at
approximately 0.17 feet after 720 minutes of pumping;
' Drawdown. was observed in well MW-6 (located 85 feet toward the southwest) at
approximately 0.13 feet after 720 minutes of pumping and
• No measurable draw-down was observed in well MW-4(located 100 feet toward the north).
• Table 2 shows the drawdown for each well, distance from pumping location and duration.
During the pump test, three sets of a grab samples were collected prior to discharge into the tank
utilizing three 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials containing 0.5 ml 18%
T1 hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative and one 1-liter amber bottle. The three samples were r
collected at 11:30 am (4 hour); 3:30 pm (8 hours) and at the-termination of the test 7:30 pm
(12 hours).
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
