El
• A S S Q C I A T E S I N C
7.0 NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED (NFAR) REPORTNG CRITERIA
' 71 NFAR Reporting Criteria Evaluation
Using the criteria listed CRWQCB's No Further Action Required (NFAR) Reporting, as outlined
' by CRWQCB (Section 6 0 of Appendix A of the Tri-Regional Recommendations), conditions at
the subject site were evaluated to determine if NFAR for "Cases Exceeding Water Quality
Objectives" is appropriate for this site
? ' Criterion 1: The source of the UST release has been identified and removed -61(4w• r
' In August 1993, one 550-gallon waste oil UST, two 4,000-gallon gasoline USTs and two
8,000-gallon gasoline USTs were removed from the north central portion of the site
During removal, three additional 1,000-gallon USTs were discovered near the western
' portion of the site and removed These tanks were previously filled with sand and
apparently abandoned in place Soil samples collected at the time of the tank removals
indicated the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil at the site There are no
known remaining USTs or ASTs at the site
Criterion 2: Free-phase product in groundwater has been removed to the full extent
' practicable, in accordance with the UST Regulations (Tale 23, CCR, Section
2655) VeI
' In August 1993, Walsh and Associates measured approximately 3 34 feet of free
product in well MW1 On August 16, August 19, and September 2, 1993, Walsh and
' Associates bailed free product from well MW 1 On September 2, 1993, the measured
free product in well MW1 was 0 1 foot thickness prior to bailing Walsh and
Associates concluded that the free product present in well MW 1 was caused by the
' accumulation of vapor condensate during the 2 6 years since the well had last been
sampled Wallace Kuhl Associates noted the presence of free product in well MW1
during the June 14, 1994 sampling event, but did not quantify the amount or thickness
' of free product present However, historical groundwater sampling data indicates that
there has been no free product at the site from at least 1995
Criterion 3: Contaminants remaining in the vadose zone cannot migrate in soil vapor or
I ' leach at concentrations that would cause groundwater to exceed water
quality objectives.
' Over the course of previous site investigations, aquifer els have been measured at
depths of approximately 9 to 22 feet Soil samples collected in 1990 from boring MW1
contained detectable concentrations of TPHg and benzene at depths of 9 5 to 20 feet bgs
w 121]421reportslclosure doc 20
I
