r <br /> f <br /> ' 31 October 2003 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0103 <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br /> 2 3 QUARTERLY GROUND WATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING <br /> On 01 August 2003, ground water monitoring and sampling were performed on monitoring wells <br /> ' MW-1 through MW-6 at the request of the EHD <br /> 2 3 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation <br /> A Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in monitoring wells <br /> MW-1 through MW-6 relative to the tops of the well casings(Table 1) The ground water elevation <br /> in each well was calculated by subtracting the measured depth to ground water from the surveyed <br /> ' casing elevation <br /> After water levels were measured,ground water(a mimmum ofthree casing water-volumes per well) <br /> were evacuated(purged)from wells MW-1,MW-2 MW-3,MW-4,MW-5 and MW-6 Well MW-1 <br /> was purged of 27 50 gallons utilizing a waterra lift-bailer Wells MW-2,MW-3,MW-4,MW-5 and <br /> MW-6 were purged of 9 75, 7 25, 9 0, 4 0 and 7 5 gallons of water, respectively, utilizing <br /> !� polyethylene disposable bailers <br /> Temperature,pH and conductivity were measured for stabilization at regular purge-volume intervals <br /> ' from each well using an Oakton water analyzer,the field measurements are included in Appendix A <br /> Purged water was subsequently treated through the on-site ground water treatment system <br /> ' 2 3 2 Ground Water Sample Collection and Analysis <br /> ' Water samples were retrieved from each purged well using the dedicated disposable bailers after <br /> allowing the well to aclneve a minimum of 80 percent recharge prior to sample collection The <br /> samples were transferred into 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml of 18% <br /> ' hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The samples were properly labeled and transported in <br /> a chilled container under chain-of-custody to MAI a DHS-certified laboratory, for analysis The <br /> ground water samples were analyzed for <br /> ' • TPH-g m accordance h EPA Method 8415 Modified and <br /> • BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8260 <br /> ' 3.0.
