,I
17 January 2005
. AGE-NC Project No 95-0103
Page 4of9
a chilled container under cham-of-custody to CTEL for analysis The ground water samples were
analyzed for
• TPH-g In accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified and
• BTEX and the fuel additives TBA,DIPE,ETBE,TAME and MTBE in accordance with EPA
Method 8260B
I3 0. FINDINGS
From field data collected at the ground water treatment system between 15 December 2003 and
18 December 2004, AGE calculated the approximate mass and volume of TPH-g and benzene
removed, utilizing the average TPH-g and benzene concentrations and the average ground water
extraction flow rate Ground water flow direction and gradient was determined from the field data
collected on 18 December 2004,the contaminant impact to ground water on 18 December 2004 was
assessed from laboratory data
 . 3 1 GROUND WATER TREATMENT RESULTS
' Between 15 December 2003 and 18 December 2004, the pump-and-treat system extracted and
treated approximately 771,871 gallons of impacted ground water(Table 4), for a total of 3,481,830
gallons of water treated since ground water extraction began in April 2002
3 1 1 Laboratory Analysis of Influent and Effluent Ground Water Samples
TPH-g compounds and BTEX were detected in the influent samples and ground water extraction
samples collected from wells EW-1, EW-2, EW-3 and VW-6 The following is a summary of the
'a detected concentrations
• January 2004 Grab ground water samples were collected from the four extraction wells
1 during pumping Each ground water extraction sample had detectable TPH and BTEX
compounds, the highest TPH and BTEX concentrations were detected in sample EW-3 at
13,000 micrograms liter (µg/1) TPH-g, 860 µg11 benzene, 47 µg/l toluene, 330 µg/1
ethylbenzene and 480 µg/1 xylenes In addition, the fuel additive MTBE was detected by
EPA Method 8020 in sample VW-6 at 8 3 µg/1
• February 2004 Grab ground water samples were collected from the four extraction wells
' during pumping Each ground water extraction sample had detectable TPH and BTEX
compounds, the highest TPH and BTEX concentrations were detected in sample EW-3 at
,, Advanced GeoEnvtron mental,Inc
