Third Quarter 1996 Status Report 3
Golden Grain Company,Manteca Bean'Facility.229 Moffat Boulevard Manteca Calitomia September 17,19%
TREATMENT SYSTEM OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
' The sod treatment system remained inactive this quarter because of the lack of Influent soil vapor
concentrations detected during the first quarter of the year The groundwater treatment system,
' however, operated continuously during the quarter The system consists of two liquid-phase granular
activated carbon (GAC) vessels arranged in senes which treat groundwater extracted from well
RW 1
During the quarter, seven site visits were made to perform maintenance and routine system
operation The following work was performed during each site visit
■ monitoring and recording operational data for the groundwater treatment system and
' making adjustments as necessary
■ monitoring the condition of the catalytic water conditioner which minimizes fouling caused
' by the hardness of the water
■ monitoring the liquid-phase GAC vessels and filters for pressure build up
i
During this quarter of operation, there were no releases of untreated groundwater
' GROUNDWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM MONITORING
' A total of 461,102 gallons of water was treated between June 1, 1996, and August 28, 1996 Since
the beginning of operation of the remediation system, approximately 5,335,987 gallons of water have
' been extracted and treated
On August 8, 1996, samples were collected from the groundwater treatment system and analyzed for
TPH-g. BTEX, total lead, organic lead, and ethylene dibromide at a Califomia-certified laboratory
Laboratory analytical reports and corresponding chain-of-custody records for the sampling event are
' included in attachment 4 Results of system historical analyses are summarized in table 3
Laboratory results indicate that all treatment system effluent water constituents analyzed were below
' the method detection limit and below the City of Manteca Public Works Department Industrial
Wastewater Discharge Permit (No 92-2) limits
' 20200213 QS3
IFLUOM DAP411111.071
tip1
