z� <br /> • Fourth Quarter 1995 Status Report 3 <br /> Golden Grain Com an ,Manteca Bean Facility,229 Moffat Boulevard,Manteca,Caldomia December 21, 1995 <br /> allowing them to reach an equilibrium state prior to turning the system on When the system is <br /> operating, it extracts vapor-phase hydrocarbons from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4 <br /> The groundwater treatment system consists of two liquid-phase granular activated carbon (GAC) <br /> vessels arranged in series The groundwater treatment system extracts groundwater from well RW-1 <br /> During the quarter, seven site visits were made to perform maintenance and routine system operation <br /> During each visit the following work was completed <br /> ■ pulsing the vapor extraction system on a one week on,three weeks off schedule <br /> ■ taking flame-ionization detector(FID) measurements of catalytic oxidizer vapor influent and <br /> effluent during system operation <br /> ■ monitoring and recording the catalytic oxidizer operational data <br /> ■ monitoring and calibrating the system lower explosive limit(LEL) meters <br /> ■ recording operational data and maintaining vacuum extraction blowers and vapor extraction <br /> system(VES) <br /> • monitoring and recording operational data for the groundwater treatment system and <br /> making adjustments as necessary <br /> ■ monitoring the condition of the catalytic water conditioner which minimizes fouling caused <br /> by the hardness of the water <br /> ■ monitoring the liquid-phase GAC vessels and filters for pressure build up <br /> The sod vapor extraction system operated for two pulsed cycles this quarter During the scheduled <br /> third cycle, no hydrocarbons were detected in the extracted sod vapor and the system was turned off <br /> The groundwater treatment system operated on a continuous basis this quarter until the last week in <br /> November,when the power was cut off because of the demolition of the adjacent warehouse budding <br /> A new electrical service will be installed as part of the demolition work scope Power is scheduled to <br /> be restored the week of December 18 Following the reconnection of power,the groundwater <br /> extraction/treatment system will be restarted <br /> During this quarter of operation,there were no releases of untreated groundwater or untreated system <br /> effluent vapors <br /> El GROUNDWATER <br /> ❑❑❑TECHNOLOGY ® <br />
