4 <br /> GOLDEN GRAIN COMPANY <br /> December 2.1, 1989 <br /> 202/799-5045.06 <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 SITE LOCATION AND HISTORY <br /> The Manteca Bean <br /> facilityis an inactive bean-packing plant <br /> ly 500 feet east of <br /> located at 229 Moffat Boulevard, approximate <br /> the intersection of South Main Street and Moffat Boulevard in <br /> southern Mar'-eca, <br /> California (Figure 1) . The area surrounding <br /> t.0 site consists of retail businesses (West and east) , a <br /> ilroad (south; with a spur to the west) , a truck scale (east) , <br /> ra <br /> e site elevation is <br /> and private residences (east) . Th <br /> approximately 35 feet above mean sea level. <br /> Topographic relief in the area is slight <br /> chanand <br /> esslopes <br /> to feet <br /> north-northwthe <br /> est, with approximate elevation g <br /> alluvial deposits <br /> per mile. The site is located on recent <br /> associated with the San Joaquin River system. Intermittent <br /> creeks comprise the majority of surface water in the area. The <br /> creek channels have been modified to rectilinear courses due to <br /> { agricultural land development. <br /> State of California, Department of water Resources records <br /> indicate that in addition to the monitoring wells at this site, <br /> wells (Beacon Oil Company, 470 North <br /> there are three monitoring wells <br /> Main Street, Manteca) and five municipal water-supply <br /> ) within 1/2 mile of the site <br /> (operated by the City of Manteca <br /> ici al wells range in total depth from 140 to <br /> (Figure 2) • The munp <br /> 382 feet. The depth of seals in all municipal wells is reported <br /> to be greater than 100 feet (according to the City of Manteca, <br /> Department of Public Works) . Groundwater elevations measured <br /> during this site assc-ssmant indicate that groundwater movement is <br /> GROUNDWtTm <br /> TFC11N01.()Gy.INC. <br />
