2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The objectives of this investigation were to confirm concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in
groundwater and to establish a groundwater monitoring capability at the site To achieve these
objectives, three on-site groundwater table monitoring wells were permitted, installed, surveyed,
monitored and sampled Due to the unavailability of water well completion reports for San
Joaquin County at the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), the proposed water well
survey has not yet been completed The water well survey will be completed and documented in
' a subsequent quarterly groundwater monitoring report
' 21 Project Planning
Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan addendum was prepared
according to 29 CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan included safety procedures, chemical
hazard information, site safety officers, and preferred medical emergency locations
' On November 28, 2000, PHSIEHD issued permit SR#0024677 to complete the on-site monitoring
wells A copy of the approved permit is included in Appendix A At least two working days prior to
drilling, PHSIEHD and Underground Service Alert (USA) were notified so that regulatory and utility
clearance inspections could be scheduled Underground utilities were marked by USA member
utilities under USA Ticket#358293
22 Groundwater Monitoring Well Installations
On December 12, 2000, Ramage Environmental supervised V&W Drilling, Inc (C-57 License
' #720904) install three on-site groundwater table monitoring wells to establish a groundwater
monitoring capability at the site The locations of the three wells, designated MW-1, MW-2, and
' MW-3, are shown on Figure 2
2 2 1 Monitoring Well Construction, Development_and Survey
' V&W Drilling installed all three wells in 8-inch diameter soil borings drilled to a depth of 27 feet
bgs using a truck-mounted drill rig, equipped with hollow stem augers All three wells consisted of
' 15 feet of two-inch diameter, Schedule 40, flush-threaded and machine-slotted (0 020-inch)
polyvinyl chloride (PVC) well screen, spanning from approximately 12 to 27 feet bgs Blank PVC
casings were threaded into the tops of the well screens and extended to the surface
8
