. I I February 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0520
Protect]on.Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and
a utility clearance obtained'through,Underground Service Alert.
3.2. SOIL AND GROUNDWATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
' AGE proposes to.advance two soil probe borings using direct push technology(geoprobe)to further
assess for petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water beneath the site. The proposed
soil borings will be advanced to approximately'30 feet bsg; the total depth and proposed locations
' of the soil borings may be modified due to field observations. The proposed sail boring locations
are presented below and on Figure 2.
' One boring approximately 65 feet northwest of MW-8;and
• One boring approximately 125 feet northwest of MW-9.
' h eac
As boring n
. bo g is advanced, soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg
and extending to the total probe boring depths. In addition, grab ground water samples will be taken
in all five borings at first-encountered ground water. Field procedures for advancement of probe
borings and collection of soil and groundwater samples are presented in Section 4.1.
' Ground water and selected soil samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory
analysis. The selected samples will.be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
' Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g) and'diesel (TPH-d) in accordance with
EPA'Method 8015 Modified; and
' Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX)and the fuel additives methyl-tert-
butyl ether(MTBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA),"di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary
' butyl ether(ETBE) and tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME),1,2 dichloroethane (1,2-DCA)
and tertiary butanol (EDB) in accordance with EPA Method 8260 Modified.
' In addition, selected soil samples will be analyzed for specific gravity (including soil moisture),
-porosity/permeability and total organic carbon (TOC), in accordance with ASTM Methods D854,
D5084 and D2974, respectively'. Laboratory reports for soil and ground water analysis, testing
methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control(QA/QC)reports,and sample chain of custody
documentation will be presented in a report of findings and recommendations.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc,'
