1 1 Quarterly Report -First Quarter 2004 . BOB'S MUFFLER SHOP 466 Moffat'Boulevard, Manteca, California ' 1.0. INTRODUCTION At the request of Mr. Tom Barbour of Bob's Muffler Shop, Advanced Geo.Environmental, Inc. ' (AGE)has prepared this quarterly report for the property located at 466 Moffat Boulevard,Manteca, California. The scope of work included a quarterly ground water monitoring event and preparation of this report. The location of the site and the immediately surrounding area are illustrated on Figure 1. Structures,former UST locations and monitoring well locations are illustrated on Figure 2. Site background information is provided in Appendix A. 2.0. PROCEDURES ' Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-10 were monitored and sampled on 22 March 2004.All field work was performed in accordance with guidelines issued by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for the investigation of underground storagetank (UST) sites. 2.1. WELL MONITORING AND PURGING On 22 March 2004, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in ' . eight wells relative to the tops of the well casings.After the depth-to-ground water measurements were collected,casing water in the wells were evacuated using dedicated,disposable plastic bailers. Approximately 6.0 to 6.25 gallons of water were evacuated from wells MW-1 through MW-5 and 1 MW-7 through MW-10; approximately 13 gallons of water were removed from well MW-6. All purged amounts were equivalent to a minimum of three casing-water volumes per well. Temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at regular intervals during purging using an Oakton water analyzer to monitor pH, temperature and conductivity of the purged water. Purged water was temporarily stored on-site in properly labeled Department of Transportation (DOT)- approved 55-gallon drums. The field data logs are provided in Appendix B. 2.2, COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES A water sample was collected from each purged well with a dedicated, disposable bailer after ' allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume. Each water sample was transferred into laboratory-supplied 40-milliliter(ml)volatile organic analysis (VOA) ' vials containing 0.5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative.
