1
Eckert Cold Storage Company
7S7 Moffat Boulevard January 3, 2000
' Manteca, California Page. 4
•
The soil samples were taken using a California Modified Split Spoon sampler with brass
' liners. The sampler were driven continuously by a wire line hammer.
The laboratory samples did not have head space and were immediately sealed in their
liners using TeflonO lined plastic caps. The remaining sample were removed from their
liner to be used as an aide to the on-site specialist in logging the material at that depth.
' Soil samples collected for analysis were analyzed using EPA method 8015 for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G), EPA method 8020 for Methyl tertiary
' Butyl Ether (MTBE) and Benzene (B), Toluene (T), Ethyl Benzene (E), and Xylenes (X)
compounds, and EPA Method 3550/LUFT for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel
(TPH-D). MTBE was also analyzed by EPA method 8260 to confirm the presence or
' absence of that contaminate. Analyses were conducted by California Laboratories, Inc. a
State certified laboratory. All samples were recorded on a Chain of Custody and placed in
' an Ice Chest with Blue Ice@ for transport to the lab.
4.0 Analytical Results
1
Soil Analytical Results-MTBE
' The soil sample analysis indicated that MTBE contamination is not present in any of the
soil samples collected from this site. The detection limits set for MTBE by EPA method
' 8020 was between 25 and 250 ug/Kg. Therefore, MTBE was further analyzed using EPA
method 8260 due to the elevated detection limits set using EPA method 8020. This was
requested to provide accurate information regarding MTBE levels in the soil at this site.
' Three soil samples were chosen for analysis by this method, B-3-15, B-3-30, and B-3-55
(deep boring in the vicinity of former tank area). The results from this test indicated that
MTBE was not present in these soil samples. A complete tabular summary of the
analytical data can be found in Table 1 of this report. Appendix C contains the laboratory
analytical data, Chain of Custody Reports, and QA/QC documents.
Soil Analytical Results: Boring B-I
' The laboratory analytical results for Boring 13-1 are presented below. MTBE was not
present in Boring B-1.
03NOV99
B-1-10 ND ND ND ND ND ND ND
B-1-15 ND ND ND ND ND ND ND
B-1-20 4.5.:''..... .
