A copy of the log entries is
sent to the State Department of Food and Agriculture on a
monthly basis.
Odor -
If operated in a proper manner, the slaughterhouse is not
expected to create odor problems for adjacent properties . The
waste water from the washdown of the facilities must pass
through a 1600-gallon grease trap prior to reaching the eva-
poration pond on the project site.
FACILITIES/SERVICES :
The custom slaughterhouse proposes to utilize an existing private
well for the water supply and an existing septic system for
sewage disposal . The Local Health District is requiring a cross-
connection control device on the water well to protect it against
contamination and back-siphonage . Storm drainage is proposed as
terminal drainage to the South San Joaquin Irrigation District
drainage canal . It should be noted that drainage on the parcel
as a whole may utilize District facilities ; however , it is
strictly prohibited for any drainage from the project to enter
the South San Joaquin Irrigation District drainage canal . All
drainage from the slaughter facility must be contained in an on-
site evaporation pond.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS :
An Initial Study was prepared on August 12 , 1987 , and no signifi-
cant environmental effects were identified. Based on the Initial
Study, a Negative Declaration was prepared.
