No
water or significant moisture was encountered during excavation.
LOCATION OF MUNICAL & MONITORING WELLS: The latest ini ormation
available to the writer showsthat the nearest municipal water
wells are approximately pproximatel 1/2 mile to the north and 1/2 mile to the
southeast. The nearest monitoring well is about 8/10ths of a
mile to the northwest on or near Moffat Blvd. Refer to Plate XI
for more detail.
PRIOR HISTORY OF SITE: The office adjacent to the UST locatiin is
currently vacant, but had been occupied by a Pony Express Courier
service; the tank was used to service the flee;: of vehicles used
by the company. There at-2 no records avail&ble concerning fuel
usage or amount of spillage, if any.
On August 24, 1989, Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc. removed one (i) 1,00x]
gallon underground storage tank which had contained gnleaded
gasoline. A slight gasoline odor was noted during tank r-.maval
but no sail discoloration or other evidence of cr
leakage ' was
evident in the spoil removed or the excavation. The tank and
Piping were in gaud condition. The tank was triple-rinsed and .
disposed of properly, (rifer to Exhibit"B". ) Two (2) soil samples
were taken by Canonie Environmental beneath the tank cradles at
depths of S' at the north end
a
to Plate VII far locations f' and 10' at the two samples, southThe end*resRefer
the
the laboratory analyses showed dz Eectablts of
e amounts of Xylene and
TVPH; refer to Table 1 for details. At the.conclusian of this
work, the excavation was approximately 14' lung X 8' wide X 6'
deep. The removed spoil, about 25 cubic yards, was placed on
plastic in an empty storage yard adjacent to the Oxcay.ation,
(refer to Plate VI. )
On April 26, 1990, Jim Thorpe oil, Inc. submitted a sail re-exca-
vation/resample workplan (refer to Exhibit "C",) to enlarge the
existing excavation to approximately 22' X 14' X 17'
removing an additional 169 cubic yardsof spoil . Soil samples
were proposed to be taken as shown an Plates
j IX. In
addition, 2 composite samples were to be taken fromlII the&excavated
spoil to assist in future soil remediation.
REVIEW OF LATEST WORK PERFORMED:
On August 7, 1990, Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc. moved in equipment and -
began remavin 9
8- call from the existing excavation, The sediments
.
consisted of. very fine to fins sand, tan to
brownish-tan, very
i.
yrs ... ... .. .. ..,
