We agree that the depth to seasonal high <br /> groundwater is 15 feet and that the soil at the site is sandy loam. <br /> The inspector present during the underground tnk removal the fill end of <br /> noted a <br /> strong hydrocarbon odor and staining <br /> of the the tank. According to Tri-Regional Guidelines and the LUFT <br /> manual, a groundwater investigation is required due to the above <br /> factors. A preliminary Repo t, as outlined.i.n_the._.Tri-Regional <br /> Guidelines, ppendix A, is to be submitted to this office by <br /> January_1-5.,_.1991. A Work Plan for installatio:z of monitoring wells <br /> sh uo ld be incorporated into this report. <br /> Detection limits used for the soil sampled following tank removal <br /> and the subsequent re-excavation were not sensitive enough. In the <br /> future use the detection limits listed in the LUFT manual for soil <br /> + and water samples. <br /> The existing excavation should be fillad with clean soil. <br /> Stockpiled soil should be resampled and the sample results should <br /> verify the sail is clean before it is placed back into the <br /> excavation. Discreet samples are recommended for this <br /> verification.
