It was also stated that an addendum should be
submitted confirming the completion of the site investiga-
tion and remedial action. This addendum report is in
response to that requirement.
REMEDIATION
On October 30, 1991, Richard Thorpe reported to Hunter &
Associates as follows: No direct remediation efforts had
been made on the spoil pile. After re,eiving the results of
q_ the laboratory tests on the spoil pili (reported in report
# 3) and attached hereto, he received verbal permission from
Margaret Lagorio to replace about 3;Y of the spoil in the
excavation. Slumping. had been undermining the building and
fill was needed to support the hole walls. This spoil had
been replaced soon after the results of the first tests were
received; in late June of 1991. The westerly portion of the
i
f spoil pile had bee: LV t in place.
A
r Figure 1 from Report # 3 is attached. On this figure it can
3g be seen that the only soil contamination found was a small
amount of toluene in the westerly sample, i+Zr. Thorpe also
'. reported that he had received permission from the EHD to re-
sample the remaining spoil for toluene only because that was
all that had been found previously. Two samples :were taken
by FGL Laboratory on 10/17/1991 and the tested for toluene.
,. These samples are located on Figure I as described by Mr.
Thorpe.
No toluene was found in either sample, Laboratory data and
chain-of-custody forms are attached, Exposure to the sun and
air for about four months apparently evaporated whatever
toluene that had been left in the spoil .
j
Only about 10 yards of spoil as a maximum remain on the
site, and based on the recent tests, it appears that natural
remediation has occurred and that no further remediation is
necessary.
HUNTER & ASSOCIATES
-- — -- -- — -- ---- ---- -- gtRl70 --- ----- - - ----—
rr.i 11
Dennis R Allen,.
