C A M B R I A Ms Michelle Le <br /> • June 3, 2005 <br /> SAMPLING ACTIVITIES AND SAMPLE ANALYSES <br /> On March 25, 2005, Paradiso Mechanical, Inc (Paradiso) of San Leandro, California removed <br /> three 12,000-gallon, double-wall fiberglass gasoline USTs, four dispensers, associated product <br /> piping, and a 550-gallon waste oil UST Cambria's standard procedures for UST, dispenser, and <br /> piping removal and excavation sampling are presented as Attachment A <br /> Personnel Present <br /> • Michelle Le, R E H S , SJCEHD <br /> • Harlin Knoll, R E H S , SJCEHD <br /> • Mark Freitas, Construction Foreman, Paradiso <br /> •� Ron Barone, Staff Geologist, Cambria <br /> Sampling Dates March 25 and April 7, 2005 <br /> UST Removal Observations Cambria observed no cracks or holes in the USTs <br /> UST Excavation Soil Sampling Cambria collected soil samples from the bottom of the UST <br /> excavations Nine samples (TP-1 through TP-9) were collected at a depth of 14 feet below grade <br /> (fbg) from the gasoline UST excavation and one sample (TP-10) was collected at 12 fbg in the <br /> waste oil UST excavation Figure 2 shows sampling locations Soil samples were collected from <br /> the tank excavation using an excavator The soil was removed from the excavator bucket, packed <br /> into clean brass sample tubes, and tube ends were covered with Teflon tape and plastic end caps <br /> Soil samples were labeled, placed into a cooler with ice, entered onto a chain of custody record, <br /> and transported to a California-certified analytical laboratory <br /> Dispenser and Product Piping Soil Sampling Cambria collected soil samples from beneath the <br /> former product dispensers (D-1 through D-4) and piping (P-I through P-3) from native soil at <br /> approximate depths ranging from 4 to 4 5 fbg (Figure 2) Soil samples were collected using a <br /> backhoe in the manner described above <br /> Over-Excavation Sampling Cambria directed over-excavation activities in the UST excavation <br /> Cambria conducted vertical over-excavation in a portion of the UST excavation, and the final <br /> depth was 19 fbg Figure 2 shows the extents of over-excavation Cambria collected five <br /> confirmation samples (TP-2, TP-3, TP-5, TP-6, and TP-9) at a depth of 19 fbg from the bottom of <br /> the UST excavation (Figure 2) Soil samples were collected using an excavator in the manner <br /> described above <br /> 4 <br /> Chemical Analyses All soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and fuel oxygenates (tert-butyl <br /> 2 <br /> rl __ <br />
