C A M B R I A
0 130 parts per million (ppm) xylenes and 1 630 ppm methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) These
results are discussed in Cambria's December 27, 2000 Soil Sampling Report
2001 Soil Borings- During October 2001, Cambria advanced two cone penetration test (CPT)
borings (SB-1 and SB-2) near the northwestern dispenser Soil samples collected from SB-1
contained MTBE at concentrations ranging from 0 50 to 4 6 ppm at depths from 25 to 60 fbg
MTBE was not detected in soil from SB-2, and no total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), or fuel oxygenates other than MTBE
were detected in soil from either boring One groundwater sample was collected from boring
SB-1, and it contained 48,000 parts per billion (ppb) MTBE and 220 ppb tertiary amyl methyl
ether (TAME) No TPHg, BTEX, or fuel oxygenates other than MTBE or TAME were detected
in the groundwater sample Cambria's December 4, 2001 Site Investigation Report summarizes
results of this investigation
2002 Well Installation During September 2002, Cambria drilled five onsite groundwater
monitoring wells (MW-2 through MW-6) TPHg, BTEX, and fuel oxygenates were not detected
in soil from the well bormgs TPHg and BTEX were not detected in groundwater samples from
. the wells MTBE and TAME were detected in the initial groundwater samples collected from
wells MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations up to 7,200 and 25 ppb, respectively No other fuel
oxygenates were detected in groundwater from the wells Cambria's November 15, 2002 Site
Investigation/Third Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring Report describes these activities
2002 Receptor Survey Cambria conducted a receptor survey that included record searches and a
door-to-door survey The receptor survey indicates that there are approximately 24 domestic
and/or irrigation wells located within 1,100 feet of the subject site Groundwater flow direction
data from the third quarter 2002 indicates that the wells are up-gradient of the site Therefore it
is unlikely that any of the wells would be impacted by fuel oxygenates originating on the subject
site The receptor survey is also included in Cambria's November 15, 2002 Site
Investigation/Third Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring Report
Based on the groundwater analytical results from the September 2002 well installation, SJCEHD
requested further investigation of the extent of fuel oxygenates in soil and groundwater beneath
the site Cambria submitted the requested work plan on February 20, 2003, and the investigation
results are presented below
F
0953 z
h
i
