Mr Harlin knoll
. May 31, 1995 (9347-0085)
within ten feet of UST excavation sample TS-2 A soil sample was collected at 16 5 and 26 5
feet bg Benzene and TPH were not detected above the method detection limits in the samples
collected from the two borings
In August 1990 three additional borings were advanced S13-9, SB-10, and MW-1
Borings SB-9 and SB-l0 were advanced to 71 5 and 41 5 feet bg Monitoring well MW-1 was
constructed to a total depth of 40 5 feet bg to determine if a perched water table existed above
the clay layer at 37 feet bg This work is summarized in Delta's "Pnohleni Assessment Report"'
dated January 9, 1991
Ground water has not been observed in the well since installation in August 1990
Measurements taken on October 5, 1989, from a water-supply well located on site indicated
ground water at 68 feet bg
SCOPE OF WORK
Fugro proposes to advance four soil borings using the GeoProbe system in the areas of
investigation indicated on Figure 2 The GeoProbe employs a mobile hydraulically-driven soil
• sample collection system which advances 1-114 inch diameter push rods to a desired depth An
undisturbed soil sample is then collected using a 1 1116-inch diameter split spoon This process
does not generate soil cuttings Following is a detailed scope of work
1) Advance one boring near TS-2 (collected on December 22, 1988, during removal of steel
tanks)
2) Advance one boring on the northwest side of the existing UST basin
3) Advance one boring approximately 10 feet west of PL-5 (piping trench sample, 1989)
4) Advance one boring approximately 10 feet west of PL-6
5) Collect soil samples at a minimum of five-foot intervals, at changes in Iithology,
indications of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil, or when water-bearing soils are
encountered An additional sample from each interval will be screened with a photo-
ionization detector
6) Submit the two deepest soil samples from each boring to a state-certified analytical
laboratory for analysis
7) Submit a results report summarizing the investigation findings
93470085 AWP "
