' PRESENTATION OF CONE PENETRATION TEST DATA <br />' 10 INTRODUCTION <br />' This report presents the results of a Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and in situ <br /> groundwater sampling program carred out at the site located at 444 Mossdale Road in <br /> Lathrop, CA The work was performed on December 8t' and 9t', 2003 The scope of <br />' work was performed as directed by Advanced Geo personnel <br /> 2 0 FIELD EQUIPMENT & PROCEDURES <br /> iThe Cone Penetration Tests (CPT) were carried out by GREGG IN SITU, INC of <br /> Martinez, CA using an integrated electronic cone system The CPT soundings were <br /> performed to accordance with ASTM standards (D 5778-95) A 20 ton capacity cone <br /> was used for all of the soundings (figure 1) This cone has a tip area of 15 cm2 and <br /> friction sleeve area of 225 cm2 The cone is designed with an equal end area friction <br />' sleeve and a tip end area ratio of 0 85 <br /> The cones used dunng the program recorded the following parameters at 5 cm depth <br />' intervals <br /> - Tip Resistance (qc) <br />' - Sleeve Friction (fs) <br /> - Dynamic Pore Pressure (U) <br />' The above parameters were printed simultaneously on a printer and stored on a <br /> computer diskette for future analysis and reference <br />' The pore water pressure element was located directly behind the cone tip The pore <br /> water pressure element was 5 0 mm thick and consisted of porous plastic Each of the <br /> elements were saturated in silicon oil under vacuum pressure prior to penetration Pore <br />' pressure dissipations were recorded at 5 second intervals when appropriate during <br /> pauses in the penetration <br />' A complete set of baseline readings was taken prior to each sounding to determine <br /> temperature shifts and any zero load offsets Monitoring base line readings ensures <br /> that the cone electronics are operating properly <br /> The cones wereusin ushed GREGGp g IN SITU's CPT ng, having a down pressure <br /> capacity of approximately 20 tons Three CPT soundings were performed The <br /> fpenetration tests were carned to depths of approximately 110 feet below ground <br /> surface Test locations and depths were determined in the field by Advanced Geo <br /> personnel <br /> I <br />
