Sampling was performed to monitor the distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater
at the site Monitoring was performed to determine the groundwater flow direction and the
hydraulic gradient in the uppermost aquifer
SITE HISTORY
In May 1991, one 10,000-gallon diesel underground storage tank (UST), one 1,000-gallon
unleaded gasoline UST, and associated piping were removed by SEMCO from the locations
shown on Figure 2 Soil samples were collected from beneath the USTs and analyzed for
petroleum hydrocarbons Analytical testing indicated the samples collected from beneath the
USTs contained detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents The
excavations were subsequently backfilled
In November 1997, MJ Kloberdanz and Associates advanced one soil boring to approximately
71 5 feet below ground surface (bgs) Analytical results of soil samples collected at 25, 35, 45,
65, and 71 feet bgs indicated that soil was impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons Site activities
were summarized in MJ Kloberdanz and Associates' Phase I Investigation Report, dated
November 24, 1997 MJ Kloberdanz and Associates concluded that additional investigation
activities would be required
In November 1998, ATC personnel supervised the advancement of two soil borings to 78 5 feet
bgs and one soil boring to 86 5 feet bgs The soil borings were converted into groundwater
monitoring wells MWI, MW2, and MW3 Analytical results of soil samples and groundwater
S\163931REPORTS13gr-2004 doe I
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
