3.0
PHASE II LIMITED SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
ERM-West performed ground water sample collection activities on August 26,
and September 7 and 8, 1994. Sample locations were determined during the
Phase I and Regulatory Compliance Audit facility walk-through. The location
of the ground water samples is shown in Figure 3.
3.1 SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work ERM-West conducted for this field investigation is shown
below in italics.
Ground water samples were collected from four locations on the subject
property.
Sampling locations were determined by ERM-West personnel during
the Phase I/Audit walk-through. Locations were selected based on an
assumed ground water flow direction toward the southwest (Woodward-
Clyde 1988), and on the location of the wastewater treatment system
and chemical storage area at the subject facility.
Ground water samples were analyzed for volatile orgastic compounds
(VOCs) using EPA methods 8240, semi-volatile organic compounds
(VSOCs) including polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using
EPA method 8270, and total and dissolved metals using a combination
of EPA methods 6010 and 7000. The metals analyzed are those named
in the California Code of Regulations Title 22 §66261.24: Ag, As, Ba,
Y' Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Tl, V, Zn.
3.2 SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSES
3.2.1 Methodology
Ground water samples were collected from four locations at the subject
property (LH-1/LH-1R, LH-2, LH-4, and LH-5) employing the cone
penetration testing (CPT)/HydroPunch method. Following collection of
erved at 4°G and remained in the
ground water samples, samples were pres
_ custody of the sampler until submitted to Sequoia Analytical Laboratory for
analyses of VOCs, VSOCs, and total and dissolved metals. The HydroPunch
employed a probe consisting of a 2-inch steel tube equipped with a detachable
24 uasow.o
ERM-WEST.INC.
