CONTAMINANT DISTRIBUTION
Soil samples were tested for paint thinner , total
hydrocarbons, phosphates, and halogenated/aromatic volatile
organics (EPA methods 8010/8020) . Water collected from
boreholes prior to closing and bailed monitor/piezometer wells
was tested for phosphates and, purgeable halocarbons and
purgeable aromatics (EPA methods 601/602) .
The investigation to date has not provided enough data to
establish a "zero line" for contaminant distribution. Motor
oil contamination was found in boring 3 soil samples obtained
from 9 and 12 feet of total depth, respectively. Paint thinner
was also found in the 12 foot sample .
Both of the water samples taken out of boring 1 and 3
showed benzene, toluene and xylene contamination. Soil and
water results for boring 2 reveal no contamination detectable
by the tests run.
Methylene chloride was detected in soil samples collected
from both MWl and PW2 . Other contaminants were detected in
minor amounts and are summarized in the laboratory data
included at the end of this report.
9
