The request for additional investigation
stemmed from the detection of hydrocarbons in one of three
monitoring wells that had been installed at the site as the result
of leakage from underground fuel tanks. A brief site history is
presented along with a description of the procedures to be
implemented during the groundwater investigation. A discussion of
the contents of a follow-up report is also included.
SITE HISTORY
The Stockton Scavenger operations facility is located at 1240 Navy
Drive in Stockton, CA (Figure 1) . The facility, which covers
approximately 7 acres, provides maintenance and associated
management to a fleet of refuse collection vehicles that service
the Stockton area.
In March of 1988, a 7500 gallon diesel fuel tank and a 500 gallon
hydraulic motor oil tank were removed from the site. Confirmation
samples taken from the sides of the excavation revealed elevated
levels of hydrocarbon contamination. A subsequent investigation
into the extent of the soils contamination delineated the boundary
of the tainted soil which was excavated in September of 1988.
These soils are currently being treated via bio-remediation at the
site.
x
s
Y
1
E
E
s
FIVE THOMAS MELLON CIRCLE, SUITE 266, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA 94134 (415) 330-1000
EXECUTIVE OFFICES FAX(415)330-1134 ACCOUNTING &ADMINISTRATIVE FAX(415)330-1188 ENGINEERING &DEVELOPMENT FAX(415)330-1115
