Hazelton Ave.
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Proposed soil contamination
delineation and groundwater
monitoring plan for Stockton
Scavenger facility in
Stockton, CA
Dear Dave:
The following letter proposal is in regards to the soil contamination
delineation and groundwater monitoring program which Biosystems Manage-
ment International (BMI) will implement for Stockton Scavenger at their
operations facility in Stockton, CA. Upon your approval BMI will com-
mence work on the plan outlined below. If you feel that modifications
to the plan need to be incorporated, please feel free to contact me so
that we may discuss them in more detail. The person to contact at the
facility itself is named Jim Walsh. He will be able to answer specific
questions about operations and history of the site in my absence.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The Stockton Scavenger operations facility is located on approximately
4 .5 acres of land at 1240 Navy Drive in Stockton, CA (Fig 1) . Geograph-
ically, it is situated approximately one quarter mile west of the inter-
section of Interstate 5 and Charter Way in township 1N-range 6E. Section
numbers were not shown on USGS topographical maps. The work to be per-
formed at the site is in response to leaks from two underground storage
tanks which have been excavated and removed from the area. The tanks
contained hydraulic oil and diesel fuel which was used at the site for
fueling of trucks and operation of equipment. The capacities of the
hydraulic oil tank was 500 gallons while the diesel fuel tank held
1000 gallons. It is unknown how much liquid was released from either
tank.
Previous work performed at the site includes the removal of the leaking
tanks and sampling of soils at various intervals in the immediate vic-
inity of the tanks. Results of the soil samples revealed elevated levels
of benzene, toluene, xylene, diesel and motor oil.
