Section No 6 <br /> Revision No. 0 <br /> Date September 5, 1991 <br /> Page 17 of 55 <br /> A spill containment area will be established at each sampling area. <br /> This area will protect the site from possible contamination from accidental <br /> groundwater spills, and will also protect sampling equipment from ground <br /> contamination <br /> Well discharge will be pumped directly into a 55-gallon metal DOT- <br /> approved drum which will be stored on-site for eventual disposal Solid <br /> waste will also be stored in 55-gallon metal drums All waste materials <br /> generated during purging and sampling procedures will remain the property of <br /> the client, who will retain the responsibility for disposal <br /> 6 4 4 2 Decontamination Procedures - All equipment decontamination <br /> activities will take place within a designated decontamination area, which <br /> will be floored with plastic sheeting in such a way that rinsate may be <br /> contained and collected <br /> All nondisposable sampling equipment will be cleaned using either a <br /> steam cleaner or a detergent solution alone <br /> Decontamination procedures using a steam cleaner are as follows- <br /> 1 Lay equipment to be decontaminated on racks in the decontamination <br /> area, <br /> 2 Inspect equipment for adhering sediments or any other condition <br /> which may require scrubbing or other more rigorous cleaning methods, <br /> 3 Connect the steam cleaner to the water supply, turn on the water, <br /> and turn on the steam cleaner Turn the cleaner mode switch to the <br /> "steam" setting Allow time for the water to heat <br /> 4 Thoroughly rinse the equipment with the steam cleaner nozzle <br /> attachment <br /> 5 Apply a small amount of liquid detergent or detergent solution to <br /> the outside of each piece of equipment <br /> 6-17 <br />
