Methods <br /> developed to collect representative soil samples, are outlined for the <br /> sampling methods listed below- <br /> ■ Hollow-stem auger drilling, <br /> ■ Rotary-wash drilling, <br /> r Test pit exploration, and <br /> ■ Hand sampling methods <br /> Office preparation and preliminary field reconnaissance are essential <br /> prior to executing sampling tasks Existing reports, well logs, 'aerial <br /> photographs, and other relevant information will be reviewed prior to <br /> initiation of the fieldwork Project background information will be <br /> considered in the selection of sampling methods, equipment, subcontractors, <br /> and safety protocol <br /> A preliminary reconnaissance of the site will be performed as an aid in <br /> planning the field operations During the reconnaissance, each sampling <br /> location will be checked for accessibility, surficial conditions, and <br /> overhead and subsurface obstructions (e g , powerlines and pipelines) At <br /> this time project personnel will locate decontamination areas, water sources, <br /> and telephones All necessary work permits, drilling permits, clearances and <br /> fees (if any) will be filed with the appropriate agencies prior to field <br /> mobilization <br /> All sampling personnel will be familiarized with the project safety <br /> protocol Prior to and between sampling all sampling equipment will be <br /> 6-27 <br />
