Toluene was the only BTEX compound
detected in any of monitoring well samples at a maximum concentration of 1.5 ppb in MW4. Methyl
tertiary butyl ether(MtBE)was detected at concentrations as high as 43 ppb from MW6.
The report recommends one deep soil boring within the former UST area for collection of grab
groundwater samples to define the vertical extent of the hydrocarbon impact to ground water. EHD agrees
with this recommendation.
Conduct a complete well survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any other wells or
sensitive receptors within a 2,000-foot radius of this site. Contact the Department of Water Resources,
municipal water suppliers,EHD permit records, and nearby industries for well information. Perform a
physical search of the area to identify any wells. Show the locations of all wells on a map, relative to the
location of this site. Submit any known construction details of the wells. Identify all sources of
information in the well survey report. A survey should also be conducted to locate any other potential
conduits. Discuss conclusions regarding site geology, hydrology, contaminant disposition and migration
in soil and groundwater, and the threat posed to ground water under the influence of the pumping wells.
Submit a Sensitive Receptor Survey and a work plan to further investigate the lateral and vertical extent of
contamination at this site to EHD by July 24,2002. Quarterly monitoring should continue until further
direction from EHD. Contact Rebecca E. Setliff at(209)468-3440 if you have questions regarding this
letter.
Donna Heran,Director
i
gw
_XK Nuel C.Henderson,Jr., R.G.
Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell-CVRWQCB
Bill Little-AGE
