18 April 2000
AGE-NC Project No 98-0534
' • The highest concentration of dissolved hydrocarbons quantified as TPH-g, TPH-d and overall
BTEX compounds extends northward of the former UST area Hydrocarbons were
encountered in the presumed down-gradient direction from the UST to the location of grab
' water sample P9-H20 TPH-g and BTEX concentrations in ground water decrease eastward
of the former UST area and decrease south of the former USTs, in the area of boring P 1
• The lateral distribution of the detected dissolved phase plume is depicted In Figure 4
• Analytical data from the initial site assessment indicates that additional assessment should
proceed as outlined in the PHS-EHD-approved work plan The remediation of soil and/or
' ground water may be required at the site
' G.O. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of this Investigation, AGE recommends the following
• Quarterly monitoring should be initiated after the Installation of the proposed ground water
monitoring wells The location of the proposed wells are depicted on Figure 5
A Corrective Action Plan (CAP) should be prepared upon completion of the feasibility
testing The CAP should include remediation teasibilrty studies(e g in-situ air sparging pilot
test, soil vapor extraction, soil excavation and bio-enhanced remediation or attenuation) to
determine appropriate remedial options for the site The CAP should also Include a receptor
survey of local wells
r7.0. LIMITATIONS
I Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing In this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the
geologlc/hydrogeologlc conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a
limited number of available data points (I e ground water and soil samples), and subsurface
conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made
Ias to the professional recommendations contained in this report
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
h
