• The sample handling, field screening and documentation as referenced for soil sampling <br /> above,will be followed. <br /> General Site Activities <br /> The field staff person shall: <br /> • Describe the lithology observed on each sidewall and the bottom of the excavation, or <br /> the soil encountered every five feet in a boring, using the Unified Soils Classification <br /> System(USCS) or the American Society of Testing and materials (ASTM) Method <br /> D2488, and a Munsell Soil Color Chart. <br /> • Measure the length, width, and depth of the excavation or the dimensions of the <br /> stockpile and any notable features, with reference to permanent structures at the site. <br /> • Take photographs of the proceedings and of the site upon arrival, during activities, and <br /> upon departure, for additional documentation. <br /> • Retain a copy of the chain-of-custody upon submittal of the samples to the laboratory, <br /> for documentation. <br /> • Additional documentation shall include: <br /> — Measurements of the USTs removed(length, diameter) <br /> — Visual observations of the condition of the UST(s) <br /> — Photographs of the UST or excavation <br /> — Disposition of waste generated <br /> — Name and association of all parties at the site during the activities <br /> — Other items deemed relevant <br /> 5. Equipment Required <br /> • Organic Vapor Analyzer(PID or FID), calibrated and ready for use <br /> • Disposable sampling gloves <br /> • Decontamination supplies <br /> • Soil sampling equipment(shovel, hand trowel, knife, etc.) <br /> • Measuring tape <br /> • Ziploc baggies <br /> • Indelible marker <br /> • Soil sampling containers and labels <br /> • Chain-of-custody forms <br /> • Ice chest and ice <br /> • Camera <br /> • Munsell Color Chart <br /> • En Core® Sampler Set <br /> • Pre-weighed 40 ml glass vials with septum top (VOA) supplied by laboratory, <br /> containing sodium bisulfate or methanol preservative solution <br /> • 10 ml plastic syringes <br /> SOP Soil Sampling for 5035 VOCs 4 of 4 August 2011 <br />
