k%1 KLEINFELDER
A copy of the laboratory data sheets and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix
C. Table 2 is a key presenting the sample location, sample number, and sample depth at
the three HS areas.
3.1.7 GROUND WATER SAMPLE ANALYSES AND RESULTS
Three ground water samples were collected from the monitoring wells on November 11,
1988, and submitted under chain-of-custody to Chemwest Analytical Laboratories. The
samples were analyzed for TPH extractable by GC/FID, and BTEX by EPA Method 602.
All constituents were reported below laboratory detection limits in the water samples.
Copies of the laboratory data sheets and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix
C.
3.2 PESTICIDE AREA PS-3
PS-3 is located in the north central portion of the Weston Ranch parcels (Plate 2, Appendix
A). Empty pesticide containers were observed in the area, and low concentrations of
pesticides were detected from two surface samples collected during the preliminary soil
sampling investigation. To assess the potential vertical migration of the pesticides, samples
from two additional surface locations and four subsurface locations were collected and
analyzed.
On November 4, 1988, twelve additional soil samples were collected with a hand auger
from area PS-3. Surface samples were collected from 0 to 0.5 feet at locations PS-3A and
PS-3B. Subsurface samples were collected from 2 to 3 feet at locations PS-3A, PS-3B, PS-
3C, and PS-31). Surface samples were collected at PS-3C and PS-3D during the June, 1988
preliminary soil sampling investigation. A primary and duplicate sample was collected at
each of the six sample locations. Each sample was collected in a laboratory glass jar with a
Teflon lined lid, labeled and stored in an iced cooler. A summary of the PS-3 sample
locations, sample I.D. numbers, and depths are presented on Table 3, PS-3 Soil Sample
Locations. The PS sampling locations are shown on Plate 4, Appendix A.
To minimize the potential for cross-contamination between samples, the sampling
equipment was cleaned with a trisodium phosphate wash and distilled water rinse prior to
collecting each soil sample.
161-89-107 9
