3600 Seymour Avenue, West Sacramento, CA 95691
916-372-0313 voice-voicemail 916-372-8512 fax
mleeaia@jps.net email
Mr. Cafe, Fueling Station -Stockton,CA
TANK BUOYANCY CALCULATION 15 Apr 03
For proposed installation of two Xerxes tanks, one 21,000 gallon split tank and one 30,000 single
compartment tank, both with wet annulus.
Per"GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES REPORT, PROPOSED MR. CAFE, NORTHEAST CORNER
OF PARK AND CENTER STREETS, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA" (File No. 25433.G01) dated
February 25, 2003, by Kleinfelder, Inc. of 2825 E. Myrtle Street, Stockton, CA 95205, no
groundwater was present during and immediately following drilling operations [for that report] in
the depth range of the proposed underground storage tanks and their backfill [typical boring depth
to 25+feet].
Further, per that report:
"Groundwater or seepage was not encountered. ... Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater
contour maps published in groundwater reports by the San Joaquin County Flood Control
and Water Conservation District(Spring 1981 to Spring 1999) show groundwater levels in
the project area ranging from about 30 to 50 feet below ground surface."
It is reasonable to assume from this information that groundwater will not be present within the
depth range of the proposed underground storage tanks and their backfill. From this, it is
reasonable to conclude that there will be no buoyancy forces exerted on the underground storage
tanks from groundwater, and holddowns are not required.
Respectfully submitted,
yv wRcjir
1GGL Lr.
0!
A
No. C25664
S REN.
Mike Lee 9F 0
Architect OF CAy
eoQU ` Irrcc''vh e,n ►s
iAo+ \' o 600
Licensed California Architect C25664
I
I
