i
l
` AU 6
FACT SHEET, AUGUST 1988 ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH
LIKA CORPORATION FERMIT/5ERViCES
REMEDIAL ACTION PLAN FOR
CONTAMINATED SOILS AND GROUNDWATER AT
2041 NAVY DRIVE, STOCKTON
The California Department of Health Services (DHS) is overseeing
investigations by LIKA Corporation of soil and groundwater contamination at
their former Navy Drive circuit board manufacturing facility (see attached
map) . The site is to be cleaned up according to state and federal
regulations.
The facility, located at 2041 Navy Drive was used for circuit board
manufacture for a period of 16 years up until 1985. Chemical processing,
including etching and plating was conducted in a building located on the
site. Chemical contamination in the form of copper, lead and nickel
compounds is considered to have occurred as a result of repetitive
breaching of sumps and undesirable waste management practices.
Soil and groundwater samples taken at locations around the facility
indicate limited contamination of soils and groundwater by heavy metals.
Several measures for cleaning up parts of the site have been investigated,
and LIKA has retained consultants to design a cleanup strategy for the
site.
Monitoring and additional investigation are continuing at this time.
In the next several months, excavation and treatment of contaminated soil
will begin. A draft workplan for the remediation has been prepared. and
is available for public review at the following two information
repositories:
TT-0105/BEV - 1
