This letter confirms the results of that discussion.
The focus of the meeting centered on additional work requested by
us as part of the site investigation. Woodward-Clyde agreed to
install a deeper well screened in a permeable horizon and paired
with monitoring well 14 . You also requested installation of a
deeper well paired with monitoring well 16 (upgxadient) . To this
the Department agreed.
The need for continued monitoring of groundwater elevations was
raised. We agreed that all shallow wells at the site would be
monitored on a monthly basis.
The issue of groundwater quality monitoring was discussed. It
was agreed that quarterly sampling of nine wells would be
conducted by Woodward-Clyde for TDS, lead, and conductivity. It
was assumed by the Department that field measurements of
temperature and pH would be conducted for all groundwater quality
sampling. The exact location of wells to be sampled for water
quality was to be determined after review of investigations to
date. Samples will be collected using a peristaltic pump and an
in-line filter. Sampling for this effort would begin with the
first round of elevation monitoring.
Gradation analysis for the additional wells was mentioned as an
area of concern. It was agreed that sieve samples would be
collected and analyzed prior to well installation.
i
d >✓0 S I i6I I "'
I.Ii iJ J I
